| KAREN MATSON artist/designer "Hey, where'd you get that Cool Bag?" That's how Cool Bags got its name. I made a few prototypes and carried them. Everywhere I went, people would ask the same question, so "Cool Bags" was born. Design-wise, I wanted to break loose from the confines of the black leather bag. With color. Softness. And buttons. The goal was to create fun, colorful fabric bags -"Cool Bags." And at affordable prices, so you can indulge in several. It's fun searching for the most beautiful, colorful fabrics and combinations. Then I design each bag, make samples and "tweak" the final design. Cool Bags and Cases are handmade, one at a time (not mass produced) with painstaking attention to detail. What makes Cool Bags and Cases so unique are the handmade polymer clay buttons and beads that are really my small "works of art". Each is designed to make your Cool item a treasured possession. As a fulltime painting and graphic design instructor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, I had little time to devote to my own artwork until Cool Bags came along. Now I make the time to create.
