| McGovney Camarot Design Studio offers contemporary fine art in clay that is inspired by function...playful by design...and original beyond measure. These pieces are created of lowfire white clay, fired, hand-painted with underglaze colors and a delicate scribing, and fired again - before being dipped in a clear glaze and fired for a third and final time.
Steven McGovney holds an MFA from Otis Art Institute and has lectured nationally on mold making, art pottery and the "masochistic joys" of ceramics. Tammy is a recovering biology major who took a meandering route into the art world, eventually landing a paid apprenticeship in Steven's ceramic studio. Today, they are a husband-and-wife team living the creative life with their two children on four acres in Prescott, AZ. Steven and Tammy have forged a unique artistic statement, drawing on Steven's sculpture and ceramic background for the three dimensional and technical side. Tammy designs the tableware patterns and paints most items that are not quick enough to escape. The work of McGovney-Camarot Design Studio is in many distinguished private collections, regularly appears in invitational shows and has been featured as cover photos on invitations to two of these shows. McGovney-Camarot artwork is shown nationally in fine galleries. |
