| A studio jeweler for 25 years, Jane Campbell was dealing with arthritis and other new health problems, while continuing to make a line of labor intensive high end jewelry for exclusive galleries. It was difficult. Then Jane read "The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love" by Jill Connor Brown in 2001, and had a revelation that changed her outlook. The high end work, while ego pleasing, was not really any fun! Jane decided she was tired of being serious and needed to have more fun at work. And quickly, too.
Out of the blue, she made some little pins with simple stamped messages that were useful - like "William's Mom" to wear to soccer games, or "Because I am the Grownup" to wear at home to avoid arguments with a 10 year old. Every woman who saw the word pins started telling Jane words they would like for themselves. Jane and studio buddy, Kay, started doing a lot of custom pins. Which led to even more pin ideas and thought of spreading the "word". |
