"My name is Jelene Morris and I'm an artist living in Kansas City, Missouri. My minipops idea came about in 1998 when I had requests from people to do smaller work. I had also just started selling online and wanted something easier to mail. People that have tiny wall spaces always seem to be attracted to these pieces just to add a little splash of color in the corner of their room. These paintings are also great to add to kitchens, bathrooms and children's rooms!

"My characters are based on childlike cartoons. My main character that I make is called 'Tickles Goldfish'. I started drawing him in 1998 as well, based after my own pet goldfish at the time. I also made him a girlfriend named 'Baby Dumpling.' She's the one with pink pearls around her neck. I also paint dogs, based on my cocker spaniel that I had. You may see some pottery in my paintings, such as coffee cups and teapots. I was originally a ceramic artist before I became a painter, so that's why you may see some pottery in my work every now and then. Some of my characters also look like they have eaten Tickles... they are based on my series of minipops called 'They swallowed Tickles.'

"I use acrylics to paint and I make all my own canvases by hand. So each one is pretty special. The sides of the canvas are also painted, so you don't have to frame them. They also come with their own hanger on the back... so just hang them directly on the wall when you get yours! I love making my work and I hope it will make you smile!" -Jelene Morris, artist
